"Thank you for acknowledging our value through your visit," Western Regional House of Chiefs expresses gratitude to new GNPC CEO
The Western Regional House of Chiefs has praised the newly appointed CEO of the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC) for showing them respect by paying a courtesy visit without any invitation. Vice President of the house, Awulae Angama Tu Agyan, commended Mr. Joseph Dadzie for his humility and honor towards traditional rulers.
Accompanied by members of his management team, the Chief Executive of the National Oil Company visited the Western Regional House of Chiefs to introduce himself as the new head of the Corporation. Mr. Dadzie, a former deputy CEO of GNPC, took over from Mr. Opoku-Ahweneeh Danquah on May 2, 2024, following his resignation.
Welcoming the GNPC delegation, Awulae Angama Tu Agyan noted that since the retirement of Dr. Kofi Koduah Sarpong in April 2022, no CEO from the Corporation had ever shown them this respect by visiting to interact and seek their counsel. "When K.K Sarpong left, someone came to replace him. We never saw him here, but see how quickly this new CEO [whom we are proud to call our son] has seen the need to visit us within a month of his appointment to interact with us," he said.
Awulae Angama Tu Agyan highlighted that this gesture from Mr. Dadzie and his management would help establish a long-lasting relationship between the Western Regional House of Chiefs and the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation. "With your visit and introduction here today, we hope you will soon return to meet the full house and discuss more pressing issues that we have for your consideration," added Awulae Angama Tu Agyan.
The Chiefs in the Western Region expressed their desire for the GNPC CEO to visit the house every year to share the Corporation's challenges and seek support in overcoming them. "This will also allow us to share with you some of the challenges we are facing in the Region and explore ways of addressing them," added Awulae Angama Tu Agyan.
President of the Western Regional of Chiefs, Awulae Amihere Kpaniyili, emphasized the need to deepen the relationship that the GNPC CEO had re-established with them. "For you to come to the Western Region and realize the need to visit us is commendable. It shows the respect you have for us here," he noted.
Responding to the Chiefs, Joseph Dadzie thanked them for their warm reception. He promised to return soon to engage with the entire house. "As you all know, we are soon going to commission our Operational Headquarters here. When we come, I will use that opportunity to meet the entire house for further discussion," he said.
Mr. Dadzie expressed his gratitude towards the Chiefs, stating that he couldn't have visited the region without paying homage to them. He acknowledged their support for GNPC and its staff, stating, "There was no way I could have visited my staff here, led by Dr. Dominic Eduah, and decided not to pay my respects to you, the owners of the land we operate on." Mr. Joseph Dadzie also assured the Chiefs that he would come back with his board to meet them and address their developmental concerns, which had been conveyed to him by the Regional Minister. "Even before I came here, at the board level, we had discussed many of these issues, and we are strategizing on how to resolve them. The board has agreed that we will complete projects that have been stalled in the region," assured the GNPC CEO.
