SIGA Commends GNPC’s Stellar Performance in High-Level Engagement

The State Interest and Governance Authority (SIGA) has lauded the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC) for its outstanding achievements, highlighting the National Oil Company’s enormous contributions to national development.

In a meeting with the Management of GNPC at the Corporation’s Headquarters in Tema, Mr. Kwame Agyeman-Budu, Senior Technical Advisor at SIGA and leader of the visiting delegation, noted GNPC’s critical role in the energy sector, harnessing Ghana’s petroleum resources to promote economic growth and development. “GNPC has done a marvellous job and must be commended,” he said in acknowledgment of the Corporation’s achievements and successes.

The visit, aimed at discussing the Corporation’s remarkable performance, also sought insights into GNPC’s operations and plans.

At the cordial meeting, GNPC’s Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Joseph Dadzie, indicated the Corporation’s commitment to upholding the tenets of openness, accountability, and responsible governance to ensure a sustainable operation that is conducive to the greater good of Ghana.  

Mr. Albert Akowuah, Manager of Corporate Strategy at GNPC, in a presentation provided the SIGA team with a comprehensive overview of the Corporation’s activities. His detailed insights into GNPC’s performance, strategic initiatives, and plans showcased GNPC’s commitment to transparency and innovation, which aligns with SIGA’s mandate to ensure effective governance of state-owned enterprises.

Also present at the meeting were key GNPC executives, including Mr. Cherisson Eleazer Shooter, General Manager of Finance; Prof. Kwesi Amponsah Tawiah, General Manager of Human Resources; Mr. Victor Sunu-Attah, General Manager of Engineering; Mr. Alex Prempeh Kwarteng, General Manager of Projects; and Mr. Kwesi K. Eyiah. General Manager of Research and Data Division.

It’d be recalled that in 2023, GNPC was adjudged as Ghana’s ‘Most Compliant State-Owned Enterprise (SOE) at the Public Enterprise League Table (PELT) Awards organized by SIGA and the Ministry of Finance, ranking at an overall 3rd on the table. A further testament to GNPC's dedication to its mandate and its unwavering focus on responsible operations.
