Kwame Ntow Amoah, the newly appointed Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC), has announced a reform agenda to strengthen the Corporation's operational efficiency and solidify its leadership within Ghana's energy sector.
Addressing staff at his official introduction at the Petroleum House in Tema, Mr. Amoah stressed the need to align GNPC's strategy with national development objectives. He emphasized a renewed commitment to transparency, accountability, and operational excellence. "GNPC's four-decade legacy is built on strong values," he stated. "To effectively fulfil our core mandate, we must implement key reforms and strategic realignments to establish GNPC as a leader in Ghana's energy sector."
Mr. Amoah succeeds Edward Abambire Bawa, who has been reassigned to GOIL. During the staff durbar, Mr. Bawa commended GNPC employees for their contributions to the corporation's growth and expressed confidence in Mr. Amoah's leadership, highlighting their long-standing professional relationship.
Recognizing GNPC's potential to contribute to economic growth, energy security, and environmental sustainability, Mr. Amoah pledged to address critical challenges, including declining oil production rates. He outlined an ambitious target of achieving new first oil within 24 months.
The meeting, attended by GNPC management and staff association representatives, resulted in a collective commitment to collaboration and maintaining the Corporation's positive growth trajectory.
Mr. Amoah affirmed his commitment to engaging with all teams to evaluate strategic direction, improve efficiency, and foster stronger collaboration between GNPC and its internal and external stakeholders to advance Ghana's energy ambitions. He concluded, "By working together, we can transform GNPC into a leading global oil and gas organization, generating both prosperity and prominence for Ghana."
