GNPC Reaffirms Commitment to National Development During Courtesy Visit to Okyehene

The Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC) has reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to national development, emphasizing its dedication to environmental sustainability, education, and community upliftment during a recent courtesy visit to Osagyefuo Amoatia Ofori Panin, the Okyenhene of Akyem Abuakwa, who is celebrating 25 years of remarkable leadership.

During the meeting, GNPC CEO Joseph A. Dadzie highlighted that the Corporation’s operations are driven by a clear focus on sustainability, ensuring that Ghana’s natural resources are explored responsibly for the long-term benefit of the country. He noted that GNPC’s goals strongly align with the Okyehene’s tireless advocacy for environmental conservation, making him a key partner in GNPC’s broader mandate to contribute meaningfully to national development.

“At GNPC, our mission extends beyond resource exploration; we are committed to ensuring that our business model supports sustainable development,” Mr. Dadzie explained. “Osagyefuo Amoatia Ofori Panin’s devotion to environmental conservation perfectly aligns with GNPC’s sustainability agenda. We look forward to continuing our partnership with him to create lasting impacts, particularly in education and environmental stewardship.”

This partnership has allowed GNPC to back various national initiatives focused on enhancing education and improving livelihoods. Through the GNPC Foundation and various corporate social responsibility (CSR) programs, the Corporation has led projects in education, health, and economic empowerment,  which align with the developmental efforts championed by the Okyehene.

GNPC Board Chairman Hon. Freddy Blay, who led the GNPC delegation, acknowledged Osagyefuo Amoatia Ofori Panin’s pivotal role in driving progress within his community and beyond. “Osagyefuo Amoatia Ofori Panin has been a champion of social justice and environmental conservation for 25 years, values that we also hold dear at GNPC. Our visit is to honor his achievements and to reaffirm our commitment to partnering with visionary leaders like him to ensure that our collective efforts contribute to the nation’s progress,” he said.

Member of the GNPC Board and Paramount Chief of the Sefwi Anhwiaso Traditional Area, Ogyeahohuo Yaw Gyebi II, echoed the Corporation’s position, stating that by aligning its objectives with leaders like Osagyefuo Amoatia Ofori Panin, GNPC demonstrates the crucial role corporate entities play in driving national progress.

Osagyefuo Amoatia Ofori Panin, a vocal advocate for environmental conservation, lauded GNPC’s commitment to ensuring that natural resource exploration aligns with sustainable practices. He expressed optimism that this partnership would continue to thrive, benefiting  Okyeman and the country as a whole.

The visit to Oforipanyin Fie comes when GNPC is intensifying its efforts to promote sustainable development, with a keen focus on education and environmental protection. As Ghana’s National Oil Company, GNPC remains committed to ensuring its contributions extend beyond oil and gas exploration, creating far-reaching impacts on communities nationwide.

As the Okyenhene celebrates 25 years of transformative leadership, GNPC’s delegation reiterated its pledge to continue supporting traditional leadership in fostering development and improving the quality of life for all Ghanaians. The delegation included Board members Mr. Yaw Kyei and Ama Gyamfuah Abrefa, Board Secretary Lady Ann, and Deputy CEO Benjamin Kwaku Acolatse, symbolizing the Corporation’s recognition of the Okyenhene’s impactful leadership and their shared vision of fostering sustainable development in Ghana.
