GNPC Inspires Future Engineers at KNUST Career Fair
The Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC) participated in the 11th College of Engineering Awards and Career Fair at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) from July 10th to 13th, 2024. The event, themed “Sustainable Solutions: Engineering for a Better Tomorrow,” brought together industry leaders to encourage and inspire future engineers.
GNPC used the opportunity to connect with young engineering students and promote careers in STEM, especially for women, aligning with the Corporation’s goal of fostering talent and innovation in Ghana’s energy sector.
Mrs. Agatha Amos, Senior Human Resource Officer at GNPC, in a presentation on GNPC’s vision for the future, highlighted its role in Ghana’s energy industry and its commitment to sustainability. She also talked about GNPC’s community support and national development efforts through its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives.
Mrs. Amos also provided practical advice on how to write effective CVs and prepare for the job market, helping students get ready for their future careers.
In a special session led by Mrs. Dziedzorm Ama Bedzrah, Senior Petroleum Engineer at GNPC, female engineers were encouraged to pursue their passions in a male-dominated field. Her talk aimed to inspire and empower women to excel in engineering.
As part of the program, GNPC conducted aptitude tests for final-year engineering students, looking for potential talent for national service roles within the Corporation.
Mrs. Amos was pleased with Corporation’s involvement at the fair, saying, “Our participation was a great success. We enjoyed interacting with students, sharing our work, and motivating future engineers. We are especially proud of our efforts to support female students in the petroleum sector, showing our commitment to diversity and inclusivity.”
The event highlighted GNPC’s commitment to sustainable development and a brighter future for Ghana’s energy industry.
