GNPC COMMENCES CONSTRUCTION OF NEW SICK BAY AT TAKORADI TECHNICAL UNIVERSITY

Takoradi, Western Region, Ghana - The Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC) commenced the construction of a new sick bay at Takoradi Technical University (TTU). This project underlines GNPC's commitment to improving the health and well-being of Ghanaians.

The mini-clinic facility will play a proactive role in student health by offering essential services such as health screenings, vaccination programs, mental health support, and first-aid training for TTU students. This holistic approach to student health ensures that students receive care for immediate ailments and benefit from preventative measures that promote long-term wellness. With increasing awareness around mental health, the facility will also provide a safe space for students to seek counseling and mental health support, which is crucial in fostering a balanced and resilient student population.

Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony, Dr. Dominic Kwesi Eduah, Executive Director of the GNPC Foundation, emphasized the critical importance of the new sick bay facility and its far-reaching impact on the well-being and academic success of the university’s students. Dr. Eduah highlighted that the initiation of this facility is not just about providing medical care, but about creating a supportive environment that enables students to thrive academically, physically, and emotionally.

The sick bay facility, as Dr. Eduah pointed out, will serve as a dedicated space where students can receive prompt and professional medical attention in times of illness or injury, thus ensuring that their health needs are addressed swiftly. This is particularly important in maintaining students' overall well-being, reducing downtime from illness, and minimizing disruptions to their academic progression. By offering on-campus healthcare services, the sick bay will provide peace of mind for students and parents, knowing that medical care is readily accessible within the university environment.

TTU Vice Chancellor, Rev. Prof. John Frank Eshun, expressed gratitude for GNPC's partnership and emphasized the facility's positive impact on student well-being and academic performance. He noted the sick bay's potential to improve student focus, provide essential health information, and facilitate timely medical aid in times of emergencies.
