GNPC and GCB Strengthen Ties in Strategic Partnership Meeting

Tema, June 11, 2024 - The Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC) hosted a delegation from the Ghana Commercial Bank PLC (GCB) at the Petroleum House in Tema today, marking a significant step in strengthening the existing partnership between the two entities.

Led by Emmanuel Odartey Lamptey, Deputy Managing Director of Operations at GCB, the delegation met with GNPC CEO Joseph Dadzie, who expressed gratitude for the visit. The meeting centered on shared interests and avenues for mutual benefit, with pivotal discussions focusing on enhancing existing partnerships and addressing operational challenges faced by both organizations.

Mr. Dadzie reiterated GNPC's commitment to becoming a world-class independent operator, highlighting ongoing exploratory work in the Voltaian Basin and its potential to reshape Ghana's energy landscape. He also acknowledged the global shift from fossil fuels and outlined GNPC's strategic transition towards becoming a comprehensive energy company. "Innovation and alignment with global energy transition efforts are now essential components of our strategy, and this now more than ever is a necessity rather than discretionary," he emphasized.

The meeting delved deeper into GNPC's operations, including associated risks and funding requirements. Dr. Kwame Baah-Nuakoh, General Manager of Strategy & Investment; Cherisson Shooter, General Manager of Finance; and Owusu Afriyie Prempeh, Manager of Finance, provided detailed insights into the National Oil Company's strategic planning and discussed financial considerations and specific funding challenges.

The GCB delegation included senior executives from various divisions: Hope Senyeabor, Corporate Banking; Andrew Adu Osei, Head of Transactional Banking; Kofi Osei-Asibey, Executive Business Manager; Sam Aidoo, Executive Director of Wholesale and Investment Banking; and Linus Kumi, Head of Corporate Banking.
The productive engagement concluded with a shared commitment to continued collaboration, innovation, and sustainable growth, all of which are critical in shaping the nation's energy future.
