GA Mantse King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II Visits GNPC CEO: Emphasizing Collaboration for Development

Nii Tackie Teiko Tsuru II, the Paramount Chief of the Ga State, visited Mr. Joseph Dadzie, the Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC), at the GNPC headquarters in Tema. The event held on Thursday, September 5th, 2024, served as a significant step towards fostering goodwill and exploring collaborative opportunities between the traditional institution and the National Oil Company. The visit followed a commitment made by the Ga Mantse during the courtesy call from the GNPC CEO and Board at his Palace in July.

Accompanying the Ga Mantse was an entourage that included Mr. Nathaniel Attoh, a seasoned broadcast journalist and spokesperson for the Paramount Chief. Mr. Attoh articulated the importance of collaboration between the Ga State and GNPC.

The GA Mantse, known for his dedication to the development of the Ga State, stressed the need for a robust partnership between GNPC and traditional leadership. He expressed eagerness to explore mutually beneficial opportunities, particularly in community development, infrastructure, and job creation.

“The Ga State holds a significant role in the development of Ghana hence it is crucial that we work together to ensure that the benefits of Ghana’s oil and gas resources reach our people and contribute to the sustainable growth of our communities.” stated the GA Mantse.

During the meeting, the Paramount Chief also raised concerns regarding the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital, expressing his deep apprehension over its condition, and requested Mr. Dadzie’s assistance in improving the hospital’s healthcare facilities for Ghanaians.

In response, Mr. Joseph Dadzie cordially welcomed the Ga Mantse and his entourage, appreciating the Paramount Chief’s commitment to fostering a collaborative relationship. He described the visit as historic and underscored its significance in light of ongoing initiatives aimed at enhancing socio-economic development in the Ga State. Mr. Dadzie assured that GNPC would play a key role in achieving these developmental objectives, indicating optimism about addressing the infrastructure challenges at Korle Bu Teaching Hospital as soon as funds were available.

Mr. Dadzie highlighted GNPC’s dedication to responsible resource management and community engagement, reaffirming the Corporation’s efforts to ensure local communities benefit from the nation’s oil and gas resources.

“GNPC is committed to working with all stakeholders, including traditional institutions, to ensure that our operations are beneficial to all Ghanaians,” stated Mr. Dadzie. “We believe that through constructive dialogue and shared goals, we can achieve sustainable development for the Ga State and the nation as a whole.”

The meeting was also attended by other key GNPC executives, including the Deputy CEO, Mr. Benjamin Kwaku Acolatse; the General Manager of Finance, Mr. Cherisson Shooter; and the GM of HR and Admin, Prof. Kwesi Amponsah-Tawiah. Mr. Samuel Nii Kpakpo Addoteye, Manager for Health and Safety, facilitated the meeting as the spokesperson for the GNPC CEO.

The visit concluded with a commitment to ongoing discussions and collaboration between the GA Mantse and GNPC. This occasion signifies a positive step toward strengthening the partnership between traditional leadership and the National Oil Company, aimed at fostering economic growth and community development within the Ga State and throughout Ghana.
