
Drive Ghana’s Oil Production Growth with Speed and Efficiency - Ntow Amoah Tasks Explorco
The Ag. Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC), Mr. Kwame Ntow Amoah, has challenged the Corporation’s upstream subsidiary, GNPC Exploration and Production Company (EXPLORCO), to play a pivotal role in boosting Ghana’s oil production.
During a working visit to Explorco, Mr. Ntow Amoah emphasized the significance of speed and efficiency in Explorco’s operations, as GNPC seeks to briskly increase production and restore its status as a center of excellence. He highlighted that Explorco plays a crucial role in GNPC's efforts to enhance Ghana’s position in the oil and gas industry and to rapidly boost oil production.
Mr. Ntow Amoah underlined the critical nature of Explorco’s success in achieving the government's broader energy sector agenda, which aims to ensure Ghana’s long-term energy security and economic growth. He underscored the need for GNPC and Explorco to collaborate in expanding Ghana’s petroleum sector by attracting investments, forging partnerships, and advocating for improved industry regulations.
Mr. Amoah also stressed the alignment of Explorco’s goals with the government’s vision of bringing reserves to early production to halt decline and resume growth, emphasizing its significance in securing the future of Ghana's oil and gas industry.
In response, Explorco's Managing Director, Mr. Michael Aryeetey, reaffirmed the subsidiary’s commitment to supporting GNPC’s vision. He outlined short-term objectives focused on enhancing production output and attracting investment through collaboration, innovation, and operational efficiency.
Mr. Ntow Amoah, in his concluding remarks, reiterated GNPC’s full commitment to providing necessary support to strengthen Explorco’s capacity and overall impact. He stressed that positioning Explorco as a leading indigenous upstream player would require strong governance, operational autonomy, and strategic alliances. He charged Explorco with prioritizing efficiency, sustainability, and innovation in its operations to ensure responsible and accelerated exploration and production in Ghana.
