BAWA PLEDGES TO DRIVE OPERATIONAL EFFICIENCY AS GNPC USHERS IN NEW LEADERSHIP
Hon. Edward Abambire Bawa has committed to advancing operational efficiency at the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC), strongly emphasizing innovation and enhanced stakeholder collaboration. His remarks, delivered under the theme “Resetting GNPC for a Better Ghana,” outlined a vision to transform GNPC into a leader in Ghana’s energy sector while fostering sustainable growth and contributing to national development.
In his address, Hon. Bawa underscored the Corporation's goal of delivering tangible results by integrating advanced technologies and forming strategic partnerships. “GNPC must be at the forefront of transforming Ghana’s energy landscape while staying true to our commitment to the people of Ghana,” he stated. He further affirmed his focus on sustaining GNPC’s core mandate of exploring, developing, and managing petroleum resources to benefit all Ghanaians.
Building on a Strong Foundation
The outgoing CEO, Mr. Joseph Dadzie, reflected on the Corporation’s successes during his tenure, including significant advancements in exploration and capacity-building initiatives. He expressed confidence in Hon. Bawa’s leadership and ability to build on these achievements, taking GNPC to new heights.
With a robust foundation laid by his predecessor, Hon. Bawa is poised to strengthen GNPC’s position and lead the Corporation through its next phase of growth and innovation. He reaffirmed his commitment to upholding GNPC’s core values of professionalism, innovation, and environmental stewardship, ensuring these principles remain central to its operations.
Strategic Priorities for Future Growth
Hon. Bawa outlined a strategic vision to position GNPC as a global leader in the oil and gas industry while simultaneously improving the quality of life for Ghanaians. A key element of his strategy is fostering stronger collaborations with both local and international partners to attract further investment into the sector. “GNPC will continue to work closely with organizations like the African Petroleum Producers Organization (APPO) to strengthen the continent’s position in ensuring the sustainable exploitation of its fossil energy resources, while also exploring pathways to cleaner energy,” he said.
Further, Hon. Bawa emphasized plans to expand GNPC’s resource base, boost exploration and production activities, and create additional value across the entire petroleum value chain. These initiatives are designed to ensure long-term energy security and stimulate economic growth for Ghana.
To achieve these objectives, Hon. Bawa is committed to leveraging cutting-edge technologies, attracting and retaining top-tier talent, and maintaining the highest standards of corporate governance and transparency. Through fostering a culture of excellence and collaboration with all stakeholders, GNPC aims to address current energy demands while contributing meaningfully to a sustainable, inclusive energy future.
A New Chapter for GNPC
In his first address to GNPC staff, Hon. Bawa emphasized the importance of collective effort in realizing the corporation’s ambitious goals. “This is a critical moment for GNPC as we navigate global energy transitions and local developmental needs. Together, we will unlock the full potential of our resources and drive a new chapter of growth for both GNPC and the nation,” he remarked.
The Staff Durbar served as a platform for Hon. Bawa to inspire confidence in his vision and galvanize staff support for GNPC’s renewed focus on innovation, collaboration, and sustainability. The event underscored GNPC’s commitment to maintaining its role as a leading force for positive change in Ghana’s energy sector, ensuring that the benefits of its initiatives are felt across the nation.
